2. Is it honey bee vomit?

Honey is not bee vomit. The nectar travels down a valve into an expandable pouch called the crop where it is kept for a short period of time until it is transferred to a receiving bee back at the hive.


3. What makes a bee special?

Bees are the only insects that produce food that humans can consume. Pollen is carried in a pollen basket by bees on their rear legs. Pollen is a protein source for the hive and is required to feed the baby bees in order for them to grow. In the summer, a beehive might have anything from 50,000 to 80,000 bees.


4. What is the maximum distance a bee can travel from its hive?

Honeybees normally travel between 1 and 6 kilometers, however they can sometimes go up to 13.5 kilometers. Honeybees have been seen to travel up to 20 kilometers from their colony.


5. When a queen bee dies, what happens?

Finally, when a honey bee queen dies unexpectedly, an urgent and unanticipated supersedure arises. Worker honey bees identify several larvae of the appropriate age range and begin conditioning them to become queens. If two virgin honey bee queens emerge at the same time, they will struggle to the death.


6. Do bees eat honey?

Honey bees gather nectar and turn it into honey. The majority of honey bee larvae eat honey, but those selected to become future queens are given royal jelly. Only workers seek for nourishment, absorbing as much nectar as they can from each blossom.

Plitvice Lakes National Park Plitvice Lakes National Park (Croatian: Nacionalni park Plitvička jezera, colloquially Plitvice, pronounced is one of the oldest and largest national parks in Croatia. In 1979, Plitvice Lakes National Park was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list, due to its outstanding and picturesque series of tufa lakes, caves, connected by waterfalls.The national park was founded in 1949 and is in the mountainous karst area of central Croatia, at the border to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The important north–south road that passes through the national park area connects the Croatian inland with the Adriatic coastal region. The protected area extends over 296.85 square kilometres (73,350 acres). About 90% of this area is part of Lika-Senj County, while the remaining 10% is part of Karlovac County. Each year, more than 1 million visitors are recorded. Entrance is subject to variable charges, up to 250 kuna or around €34 per adult per day in summer 2018.
